ConDoc 2D Quickstart

In this beginner-friendly tutorial, you'll gain an in-depth understanding of how to create architectural drawings using the ConDoc 2D drafting system. Whether you're a novice or have some basic knowledge of 2D design, this tutorial is perfect for you. The project we'll tackle together is simple, yet comprehensive enough to allow you to explore all the primary features of the system. What's more, this tutorial serves as a stepping stone for more advanced courses in this series, preparing you for a deeper exploration into the world of 2D drafting. So, let's embark on this exciting journey!

You will specifically learn:

1. How to Start a New Document:  Start by selecting xxx to initiate a new project using an 8.5 by 11 presentation template. We'll navigate through the 'My Templates' section where seven professional ConDoc title blocks are available for use.

2. How to Add a Wall:  We'll add a wall from the options available in our ConDoc 2D drafting system, which is housed in the Scrapbooks inspector. After placing the wall, we'll learn how to modify geometry with the select tool.

3. How to Resize and Reposition a Wall:  You'll learn to resize the wall to five feet and duplicate it to create a room layout. We'll then move the copy nine feet away from the original, using keyboard commands.

4. How to Create a Door Opening:  We'll create an opening for a door in our room by scaling down a section of the wall and stretching it to form a 30-inch door.

5. How to Add Doors, Windows, and Other Elements:  This part of the tutorial covers adding doors and windows, along with other elements such as a bathtub, toilet, and vanity from the scrapbook. These can be adjusted and positioned as needed to complete your room layout.

6. How to Scale the Entire Drawing:  We'll adjust the scale of the entire drawing for improved visibility and then center the design on the page for a better layout.

7. How to Add Dimensions and Labels:  Adding dimensions and labels to the design elements is an important part of any architectural drawing, and we'll cover this by using the dimension and label tools.

8. How to Add a Title and Save the Drawing:  Next, we'll add a title to the drawing, save it, and discuss how the saved file automatically populates the title blocks with the file name and current date.

9. How to Export the Design as a PDF:  Finally, we'll export our design as a high-resolution PDF and open it in the viewer to check the final result.

Upon completion of this tutorial, you'll have a solid understanding of the ConDoc 2D drafting system and will be ready to move onto more advanced tutorials in this series. We'll tackle projects such as designing master suites and guest rooms, importing field notes and measurements, and creating demolition and existing conditions plans. I'm thrilled to guide you on this path of 2D drafting mastery. Let's create together!
