Difference btw V3 & V4 Layers

Luke/Michael,

First of all, the TSWA-Second Edition book is a great resource and for novices like me recommend the BOOK extremely handy to have for beginners and learning some of the very cool nuances that are literally  burred in the ConDoc System.  I keep it on my desk!!

IN V4 layers shown are: CONDOC_Layer, DESIGN_Layer, ELEMENT_Layer, CONDITION_Layer, and LOCATION_Layer.  Seems to me that the DESIGN Layers are left over from V3 and have been replaced by ELEMENT Layers because they duplicate most of the DESIGN Layers.  Seems to me that I should delete these DESIGN Layers and move on.  Let me know if I should do that.

Hello Michael!  You got it…  ELEMENT layers replace the old DESIGN layers.

It would be best to use SketchUp’s Construction Documentation – Feet and Inches template to start.  Just click on the DESIGN and DRAFT buttons to add the layers included in your drawing set.
