ParticipantHello,
Is there a way to update the scenes after making changes to the Condoc Configurator. We are using it to set up our own standards as well as change things specific to each project. Every time we make a change in the configurator it seems that the only solution is to delete the scenes and re-generate them. By doing this we then have to go through and update the camera location again and that affects our workflow in layout. Is there a way to update the scene to the new configurator changes?
I am also wondering how updating model reference works if there are any changes to the model after having generated drawings and exported them to layout.

Mike BrightmanKeymasterHi there,
You’re right that changes made in the ConDoc Configurator only apply to newly created scenes. There’s no way to push those changes to existing scenes automatically. Deleting and regenerating the scenes is the most straightforward way to get the new settings in place, but like you mentioned, that does reset the camera locations and can be disruptive if you’re already linked up in LayOut.
It is possible to run one of the ConDoc drawing tools like the plan generator, section, elevation, or perspective tools after updating the configurator. You could then use those new scenes to reference and update the existing ones manually without touching the camera position. That said, it’s a bit clunky and can become more trouble than it’s worth. If your scenes are already set, you’re probably better off just editing them manually.
On your second question about model reference updates in LayOut, unfortunately scenes won’t sync the way you’re probably hoping. SketchUp assigns an internal ID to each scene. This means even if you match scene names, LayOut tracks the scene by that hidden identifier. We used to be able to swap files and reuse templates this way, but that changed when those behind-the-scenes identifiers were added.
One tip to help avoid camera drift is to draw a rectangle around your model, tag it Always Off, and use that as your zoom extents when setting up plan scenes. That can help maintain consistent framing even when regenerating.
Feel free to give me a call at 720 443 3242 if you’d like to talk it through.
