ParticipantHey All,
I’m having major workflow issues with SU – Condoc – Layout. Specifically since SU 25 came out.
Repeated crashing of both SU and layout after processing some drawing viewport sets into layout. Been been happening on last few drawings sets to the point the layout file is corrupt.
The viewports get to the point they are constantly showing the yellow warning arrows. I’ll disconnect and purge the links then process again and its just bugs the system out.
No clue how to fix… might be driving me up the wall. Been the biggest fan of this software as a time saver but now its a no go.
Ive read a few other recent issues and my SU file is not enormous and i don’t believe I have the environment set.
ANy clues would be great!

ParticipantI can put my finger on exactly what worked but making the file lighter (deleting materials, purging layers, simplifying textures), tuning the settings (rendering settings, viewport settings, SketchUp engines) and starting a new layout file all helped.
I had something fundamentally broken in my layout file, it was like 20x the file size vs a new version that I carefully copied all the annotations and viewports over to.
Good luck, let me know the progress.

ParticipantI’ve experienced this issue and I’m pretty sure it has to do with PATTERNS assigned in the shape files not updating. I’ve actually gone thru this in Document Setup/References/ You go thru that list and you will find the PATTERN jpgs are red and need to be updated. I don’t recall which ones are doing this but if you click each one at a time and UPDATE there are a couple that will crash Layout. You actually have to fond those PATTERNS in your layout file and delete them from layout and purge them in Document Setup/References/ and there reassign them in the Shape Style side bar menu/tool. That has fixed it for me every time. It’s a pain n the ass but if your 20 sheets deep in a submittal set starting new is not an option. Hope this helps

Gregory SarverParticipantThanks Ruben. I think my issues arise from iCloud, and getting corruption in the files causing everything to slow down. I adjusted where some of my LayOut files are stored, and created a file right in my Home folder to temporarily house models and LayOut files while I work on them. From there, I’ll save to the cloud-synced folder for extra backup. From searching online, it seems working on files in the cloud is a no go for LayOut…

ParticipantI save all my projects to my desktops storage drive and that folder gets sync’d to the cloud so I always have a clod backup. I also have a portable drive that I backup to as well. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to backups. It stems from my cad manager days before cloud backups

Gregory SarverParticipantFor sure! I keep all my business files in an iCloud folder, and CrashPlan backs all that up as well. Belt and suspenders!
