ParticipantI’m using SU 25.0.659 on a Mac. With this upgrade, I feel like I’m chasing my tail. This particular model is from Canvas conversion of my scan of a house. I went thought the model and assigned the different objects to the ConDoc tags and got rid of their layers. During this process, the ConDoc System tags would disappear but I got it back by selecting the tool for assigning the different levels.
When I opened up the file today, the ConDoc tags were once again gone. I tried the level tool again which brought the tags back, but once I saved the tags disappeared. I tried the Reset and got the same results when I saved. All of this makes it impossible for me to get any work done.
Should I try downgrading to the previous SU25 version if that’s even possible, or is there something else I can do to solve this?

Mike BrightmanKeymasterHello Jim! Sounds strange, likely has something to do with which drawing set is active. I should be available to hop on a quick call tonight or first thing in the morning. Try me at 7204433242.

ParticipantAre you purging everything when you exit or save? If you are, don’t. ConDoc tags and Sketchup tags are not the same thing so when you allow Sketchup to purge all it purges the ConDoc tags regardless of them being assigned or not. The other issue could possibly be your drawing sets and whether or not their path to the folder where they reside is set correctly in Sketchup. Let me know if this helps

ParticipantRuben is correct. SU25’s latest feature of purging unused items is too aggressive and purges tags also. Once I checked the box for “Ask to Purge All on Save the problem when away. This can be found under Settings/General.
I checked it then I was prompted when I saved again and as to whether or not I wanted to Purge Items. I checked No and Don’t Ask Again. Now the check box under General is unchecked but everything is working okay without any magic act of making things disappear.

ParticipantJim …. thanks for the “settings” tip. That damn purge message is extremely annoying. I do use the “purge all” on occasions and then use the “scene update and save” ConDocs tool to get my tags back and to make sure my scenes aren’t effected by the purge otherwise I’m keep my Components & Materials purged from the side bar menus and get rid of any non ConDocs tags in the tag list. When I’m getting rid of those non ConDocs tags I always choose the move to “untagged” and then make sure I have the appropriate ConDocs tags selected

Mike BrightmanKeymasterGlad you got it sorted! Just a heads up, in the first release of SketchUp 2025 the “don’t ask again” wasn’t sticking. They fixed it on a patch release. Make sure you are on the latest version by clicking the Help dropdown > Check for Update. I hope that helps!
