I’m trying to customize my own .condoc with my standards. And I’m running into some hurdles. Wondering how to proceed.

    – All of the viewports are being created with “CD_” pre-pended to them, though my viewport names don’t use this. I’m trying to keep the viewport naming as compact as possible. How can I achieve cleaner viewport naming and avoid these unwanted extra characters?

    – Similarly, is there a way to avoid all the extra spaces that get added between ‘drawing name’ – ‘sequence number/letter’ – ‘viewport name’? Again, I’m trying to achieve compact scene names for ease of navigation – especially once my model is loaded up with them.

    – I’ve created my own custom styles. And have them saved to a favorited collection. And I also have them loaded in my model – where I’m using the Configurator. But when I go to assign styles in the Configurator, all I see are the default ConDoc styles. None of which I want to use. And I don’t see my styles. How do I purge the default ConDoc styles and get my custom styles to show?

    – I’m attempting to implement the nifty method of isolated section cuts (with no other geometry showing), developed my Matt Donley. This relies on transparent tag colors. But in the layer creator in Configurator, only tag color is available, not transparency. How can I adjust my default layer tags so they are set to transparent?

    Thanks-

Mike please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on these responses

#1.   I’m pretty sure that CD is hard coded. I took a look and see nowhere to change that either

#2. You can change the scene names/drawing name in the configurator. Just click the settings button on the scene set you want to change and change the name. The sequence number is a reference to the floor level so it has value

CD – prefex is hard coded so you know it’s a Condos scene
_Second Segment is the drawing name which can be changed in the drawing/scene set header
00,01, 02 after the drawing name is the level reference which is hard coded
    – third segment is the individual scene/viewport name. This can be edited and this is also the location you can control the applied scene

#3. When you say you’ve created custom styles can you please clarify? Are you referring to drawing styles? If so you’ll have to store them in the ConDocs styles folder

#4. Transparency for ConDocs would be controlled by drawing style

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Ruben-

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

1- Yeah that’s pretty much what I figured. But wanted to double check. I’ll put in a feature request here for future releases to either drop this hard-coded prefix, or allow users to change it.

2- I’ve got the process for changing each portion of what ends up building the scene names. I just was hoping to do away with the extra spaces, as they add up once there’s dozens of scene names on the tabs across the top of my modeling window. In my office naming conventions, I don’t use spaces, just dashes only.

3- Yes, drawing styles. Thanks for this tip, I now see how to swap the default Condoc styles for my own.

4- I guess I’ll just register another feature request for the ConDoc Tags creation dialogue: in addition to “Tag name:” and “Tag color:”, add the ability to set “Tag opacity:”. Again this would specifically allow people to implement the “Donley Method” of live, isolated section cuts:

Create LIVE Section Cuts in SketchUp with the “Donley Method”

You are welcome for the input. I’m going to have to check out this “Donley Method” for sections. For most my work I treat sections as scaled down details. Usually 3/8 or 1/2″ scale and use them as background geometry. I have a Scrapbook of typical section components that I drag and drop over my model scene. It can be a little time consuming but it adds value to the sections and means I draw fewer details.
