Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Layout is sooooo sloooooww it’s killing me. If anyone has any tips on how to speed things up please let me know. Any kind of screen zoom or pan takes forever.

Are your sketchup and layout files saved locally while you are working on them?

Always, my cloud is a backup/sync only and all my files reside on my desktop HD. Only way to work in a production capacity

Are you Mac or PC? I’m Mac (2019 MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel i9, 16 GB RAM) and experience this at times. Less now that I save locally…

I’m under the impression that I need a PC with a dedicated graphics card or a Mac with a better processor because of the single thread deal.

    Anyone else have insight?

    I’m a PC/windows user. My machine is a bit older, i7 -8086 cpu @ 4.0ghz
    GForce RTX2070
    32 GB ram
    2x500GB Samsung SS drives striped

By no means is this a current machine but it’s no slouch either

You would think your machine could handle it. What size file are we talking though? Does PC have an “Activity Monitor” to see what is exactly bogged down. Is it only a specific file? Is there a threshold of file size when it starts slowing down or is it any size?

My latest project was 64mb. Not a huge file at all. It really seems like the more I draw in scale in layout the slower my layout files get. My slowest page of my layout is always my electrical plan where all my symbols are dropped into a scaled group from a scrapbook. I’ve asked the question on the forum what others are doing for their electrical plan workflow. Hoping someone has a better idea

Hmmm….I’m starting to do my electrical plan in sketchup. I created dynamic components like the condoc doors for each. Still working it out as far as showing existing, demo and new. But I think it’s a matter of adding additional “scenes” in condoc configurator…..I’ll let you know how it goes.

Steve …… please keep me posted. I’d be very interested in seeing how this works for you. Dynamic components for electrical symbols? Hmm sounds interesting would like to hear more about this

I’ll keep you posted. I’m also going to re post this in your original post about this subject so it will stay organized.
