Ok guys, when generating elevation scenes and exporting to layout and materials you would have added to the exterior are displayed by the style being used for CD Elevations. How or are you guys showing stone, brick or siding when it’s an applied material to your wall? I was thinking of using a color ISO on the sheets containing the flat CD elevations so we can callout materials and colors but printing color is something clients complain about because of the cost. Any ideas or input would be appreciated

    Hello Ruben,

I think I understand your question. You can certainly customize your style settings in SketchUp to include a ‘black and while’ stone material. There are several that are included as a default hatch ‘patterns’ in SketchUp:

Other option is to import a custom material and apply it to your elevation styles. I would check out some other sites for black and white stone materials. Sketchup Texture Club is a great one, and also FormFonts is another we use.

    Hope this is helpful.

Hello Ruben!  I recently used Chuck Vali’s Instant Cladding plugin to make board and batten siding.  It works really well!  I see some options in there for stone as well…  http://www.valiarchitects.com/subscription_scripts/instant-cladding

I put the resulting geometry on the ELEMENT_Trim layer.  This way it shows up in section/elevation, but not in plan.

Let me know if that helps!

Thanks for the ideas guys. Going to have to look at instant cladding
