Hello Designers!
It’s been 8 years since I first showed the “Scene Generator” at SketchUp Basecamp in 2014! Since then we have evolved from a hybrid template based system to full automation through ruby programming.
I am committed to seeing this through to the next level, so I turned my sole focus to the ConDoc Tools extension (and a select few residential design projects). We spent this past year developing some sensational new features, and to keep the momentum we need to raise our prices.
Heads up! On December 1, 2022, ConDoc Tools subscription prices will increase to $29 monthly and $299 annually for all existing users. I wouldn’t ask for more without offering some additional value!
ConDoc 5 is coming in December! Nested groups (ie. MOG’s) are made completely obsolete by the new ConDoc Tags. You can now assign multiple tags to one object. This is a gamechanger! (beta available here today)
The popular “SketchUp Workflow” courses ($99 value) are now included with your ConDoc Tools subscription, available on the Learn page today! You can earn 18 AIA CEU’s for completing these courses.
Monthly Office Hours are scheduled! Please join me for an hour where I present a recent and relevant tip or trick, then answer your questions about SketchUp, LayOut, and ConDoc Tools. Register here!
We are building a network of users that can help with your projects. Check out the current list of ConDoc consultants as well as a form to join.
You can respond directly to this email or give me a shout at 720.443.3242 with any questions, concerns, or feedback. I sincerely appreciate your continued support!
Thank you,

November 17, 2022 at 6:48 pm #33817Mike BrightmanKeymasterDefinitely! I intend to launch ConDoc 5 for existing users on December 1, 2022… So you will get a notification through SketchUp to update. Should be seamless!
November 23, 2022 at 2:52 pm #33823[email protected]ParticipantThanks to you Mr Brightman

December 5, 2022 at 3:26 pm #33844Gregory SarverParticipantIs the update pushing out today? I was working and a window popped up for the update, but I was in the middle of something. Now I don’t see where to update ConDoc…
December 5, 2022 at 4:55 pm #33846Mike BrightmanKeymasterGood Morning Greg!
ConDoc 5 is live on your profile page, so you can always download it there and then follow the installation instruction… In SketchUp, click the Extensions dropdown > ConDoc > Help > Check for Update…
I was having trouble with the link on Friday so I hesitated on the launch announcement, but it is fixed now! Give it a twirl!

Good livestream yesterday. I had to bail out half way through, but finished it up this morning. As always, there were plenty of little tips and tricks to learn. Just to follow up on something that was brought up…dashed lines. I currently use the ‘Dashed Lines’ extension, but not always happy with how it works. Is there a better way?
Greg
December 8, 2022 at 7:31 pm #33869Mike BrightmanKeymasterGlad to hear that Greg! Thanks for being there!
I don’t have too much to offer here… I still use the dashed lines plugin like you… and I agree it’s a little clunky but does get the job done…
You’ve got me thinking! I wonder if with the new ConDoc Tags taking over visibility for drawings, if there is now a way to make better use of SketchUp Tags with dashes??? I will need to tinker!
December 8, 2022 at 7:34 pm #33870Mike BrightmanKeymasterI just took a quick look… Can’t help myself!
Default behavior of ConDoc 5 is to force all lines to dashes on the untagged tag, then turn dashes off on all styles except “dashes” style. It’s a little backwards, but was necessary to make use of at least one vector dashed lines as explained on the livestream.
You could potentially make some “linetype” ConDoc tags… like dashed, dash dot, etc. I would recommend these be a subset of the 2d graphic objects, so they only exist there…
The tricky part is that we need the default behavior to make demolition plans and foundation plans dash properly from 3d geometry.
You following me!? I will keep at it! I think there’s an opportunity here…
